The kids that were in elementary school in 2012 are my high school students now. They don’t mess around during lockdown drills. I can remember those days after that shooting so clearly…making snowflakes and having holiday parties, trying to make my classroom cheerful and fun when everyone was on pins and needles.

I cannot fathom trying to do my job and also carry a gun. Ridiculous.

I published this story last week after the CA shooting…seems like we have similar experiences.
